Adding a Title to a Field in a Chart Box

Any field showing in a chart box can have field title. For example, the following box has three fields: Name, Title and Phone.  The box’s Properties look like this:

And the chart box looks like this:

Note that the Phone Number has no descriptive label or title.  Looking at this box in the chart does not really tell if it’s a phone number, nor what kind of phone number it might be.

Title Field: Define Layout

In Box Properties, select the phone field and check the Show Field Title box.

Click OK and the chart box now looks like this:

Here are additional options for alignment of both the field’s title and the field’s value.

The Field Title Style dialog shows alignment and font options for both the field and its title.

Note that there are some fields in the chart’s database that automatically add the field title when dragged to the box layout.  For example, let’s add headcount.

As soon as Headcount is dragged to the box layout it automatically includes the field title, which is the case for all formula or calculated fields.

In addition to showing a field title you can also build a table within the chart box.  Select multiple fields using ctrl-click. Then click on the table tool.

If you do not want grid borders on the fields then click on the desired boundary grid settings (2). By toggling these you can include or hided the grid lines.
