Create and Apply Templates

Creating and using chart templates greatly simplifies the chart creation process in OrgChart Platinum. This document will discuss how to create and apply templates in the OrgChart Platinum program.

Templates: Creating and saving

1. Users should begin with a chart they have previously created, whose formatting they wish to preserve for future use with other charts: colored cells, different fonts, modified arrangement styles, etc.

2. To preserve this chart as a template, select the File tab and click Save As.

3. Type a name for your template and select Project Templates under Save as type.

Templates: Applying a template

1. You can apply this template to a chart during the import process by checking the Apply Template checkbox in the following dialog box:

5. Click Next. You will now be given the opportunity to select your template from a file picker. Select the folder button to do so:

6. Select the template from the location where you saved it and click Open

7. Click Template Options and make sure the correct boxes are checked (all the boxes under “Look and Feel” should be checked if you want to use the template’s visual formatting in your new chart). Click OK.

8. Click Next.

9. Finish the import process. Your imported chart will now have the template applied to it.

Templates: Applying a template after importing

1. To apply a template independently of the import process, go to the Design tab and click Apply Templates.

2. As before, use the folder button to select your previously saved template and use the Template Options button to customize the look and feel of your chart.

3. Click OK. The template will be applied to the chart.
