Resync and Compare

Even after data has been imported into a chart in OrgChart Platinum, it is possible to update (or resynchronize—“resync” for short) that data. It is also possible to compare new versions of the chart to previous versions. This document will demonstrate the procedure for resynchronizing chart data from a new data source and then comparing the old and the new charts.

Resync: Process

To resync data in your chart, follow these steps:

1. Click on the Data tab and select Resync Properties.

2. The Resync Properties Wizard will appear. Click Next.

3. Choose the file from which you would like to refresh your data by clicking the Browse button. Click Next

Resync: Prior settings

4. OrgChart Platinum will remember the settings used during the initial data import. If you wish to change these settings, do so now. Otherwise, click Next.

Resync: Update fields

5. On the next screen, you will see a column called Update Field. You can check the boxes next to the fields you wish to update or select Update All to update all fields. When done, click Next.

NOTE: The “Emp ID” field does not have a checkbox because it is the Key Column.

Resync: Pagination

6. Pagination can be customized on the next screen. Select the “Do not create” radio button if you created a pagination style you liked in your previous import. Click Finish to proceed.

Resync: Process

7. Click Resync Data.

8. Click Yes if you would like to review the procedure log for the resync and see what was changed.

Resync: Report

9. Here, you can review the changes in a .txt file.

Resync: Results

10. Changes will now be visible in the chart as well.

11. It is advisable to save the chart under a new filename.

Resyn Compare: Comparing charts

1. To compare charts, go to the Data tab and select the Compare Tool.

2. Browse to select the source project (the original file) and the target project (the updated file). Click OK. Click Close when the comparison process is complete.

Resyn Compare: Reports

3. You will now see a side-by-side comparison of both datasets, with differences highlighted in blue.

4. Select Compare and then click on Differences Only to see only the differences between datasets.

Resyn Compare: Report publishing

5. The comparison report can be published as an Excel file.
