Once the chart has the vertical grouping set up, you can move boxes to the Staging Area (named Orphan Pane in earlier releases) to perform planning and modeling.
Vertical Groups : Create new group
To put boxes into vertical groups, select the boxes you want, Right-click on a box and select Create new group.
Vertical Groups : Staging area
Once they are in vertical groups, you can go to the View tab and select the Staging Area check box.
Click on a box that you want to move and drag it over to the Staging Area pane.
Vertical Groups : Parking lot
Now you have the box in the orphans/Parking lot pane and at this point you can go to another page in the chart and add him the manager’s box as a direct report.
